This picturesque village is part of the “Barranco de Poqueira”, a steep land in the heart of Sierra Nevada National Park that preserves many of the typical signs of identity of the peculiar urbanism of the “Alpujarra granadina”, which has remained faithful to its Moorish origins, giving it a singular beauty.

Its narrow and steep streets are full of unforgettable sights, made up of white houses with flat roofs, popularly known as “terraos”, which are crowned with characteristic whitewashed chimneys, known as “tinaos”, which give the town a peculiar image. Starting with its location in the valley of the River Poqueira and going through the irrigation channels that cross some of its streets, collecting the snowmelt from Sierra Nevada, it is clear that water is a constant feature of the town.

Verónica Street is one of the most emblematic roads in Pampaneira. It is a steep alley whose distinguishing factor is a water irrigation channel that crosses it from the beginning to the end. The route starts in the “Plaza de La Libertad” and ends at a viewpoint with the emblematic views of the bottom part of “Barranco de Poqueira”.
