Bérchules – Fountain
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Bérchules is a town in the Alpujarra of Granada, located on the southern slopes of the Sierra Nevada Natural Park, in the high mountains, among beautiful landscapes and springs of ferruginous and carbonated waters. Its white houses with flat roofs and its staggered streets, perfectly adapted to the broken terrain make up the typical architecture of the Alpujarra.
A singularity of Bérchules that deserves to be highlighted is that it celebrates New Year’s Eve in August. This fact is due to the fact that a recent December 31 there was a power cut in the village depriving the neighbors to follow the twelve bells and say goodbye to the year. The Berchuleros then decided to eat their grapes in the middle of the summer.
The municipality has a spring called Fuente Agria, which is located in the hollow of the Guadalfeo River, in a lush area of chestnut and poplar trees, where a recreational area has been enabled with a pool to cool off from the summer heat. The beauty of the place, with a suspension bridge over the river to cross to the fountain, is well worth a visit.
