Albolote – Andalusian Farmhouse
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
El Cortijo del Marqués (The Marquess’ Farmhouse) is a historical manor building 20 km away from Granada city, between the Sierra del Pozuelo and Sierra Arana. Its history goes back to the 16th century, when the house became property of the Mondéjar Marquess.
At the beginning of the 19th century, a noble family from the area acquired the farmhouse and kept its profitable agricultural activity going. In 1878 the church and tower we know today were built, making the farmhouse look like a small village. Later on, the location was used by the republican forces during the Civil War as a bunkhouse, and the church was consequently damaged by a projectile from the national band. After the rehabilitation works, they left El Cortijo del Marqués with many original elements and spaces; therefore the historical andalusian manorhouse atmosphere is still present in its patios, corridors and rooms.
