Nívar – Main Square

Main square of the town, around the church of “Santo Cristo de la Salud”. It is a neoclassical style church, built on the ruins of the one that in 1755 had been destroyed by the famous “Lisbon earthquake”.

The works were sponsored by King Carlos III, whose royal coat of arms is displayed on the frontispiece of the church. The temple is now dedicated to the Holy Christ of Health, before it had Santa Anta as its owner.
