The María Lejárraga Public Library was inaugurated on February 11, 2011. Built on a former tobacco barn in the town of Ogíjares, led by Rubens Cortés Cano, from the Granada studio M57, it is located right in the center of the town.

Dedicated to the feminist writer María de la O Lejárraga (1874-1974), the new library aims to recover the activity of a tobacco barn, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest, located within the grounds of the San Sebastián Park, on an esplanade next to a children’s playground.

With an area of more than 600 square meters, it consists of two areas, the rehabilitation of the existing building and the extension with a new construction.

It offers three floors with the following distribution: on the first floor is the information desk, loan and returns and reading room, on the second floor is the meeting room and in the basement is the children’s room, youth, computer section and storage.
