Ventas de Zafarraya – Pond

Ventas de Zafarraya is an independent local entity in the province of Granada. It borders the municipality of Zafarraya in Granada and the municipalities of Periana and Alcaucín in Málaga.

El Charcón is a picturesque spot located on the outskirts of the town, at the foot of the mountains. This natural lagoon is considered the largest wetland in the Llano of Zafarraya. Refuge of important autochthonous fauna; they also have in it their surroundings the known as “ducks of the Charcón”, that create a pretty stamp filling of color their tame waters.

In the cool summer evenings you can take a walk next to it thanks to the photoluminescent lanterns that run along the path that surrounds it. It also has a picnic area, sheltered in the shade of the poplars, a perfect place to sit and contemplate these wonderful views.
