Vélez Benaudalla – Nazrid Garden
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Located in the last foothills of the Alpujarra, in the southwest of the province of Granada, is the municipality of Vélez de Benaudalla, with a population of 3000 inhabitants. It has a very attractive natural environment where the Moorish and Christian footprint is still imprinted in streets and squares, which have a rich historical and monumental heritage. Its routes have steep walls where climbing is a common practice.
The origin of this garden dates back to the time of the Nasrid dynasty, being unique in this type of garden, together with the Generalife. A large irrigation channel runs through it and irrigates several plots filled with ornamental plants, aromatic herbs, vegetables and greens, just as they were planted in the Middle Ages. The garden includes the so-called “Vertical Garden” made up of several accessible caves shaped by the continuous erosion of the water.
