The history of Láchar Castle begins in the 14th century with the construction of a watchtower in the lands of the Nasrid Royal family. After the conquest of the Catholic Monarchs, these lands passed into the hands of the Cañaveral family, who expanded the building progressively for generations until, in the nineteenth century, Julio Quesada Cañaveral built a palace area that joined the rest of the building.

After his appointment as Duke of San Pedro de Galatino and Grand Duke of Spain, the Castle-Palace will live its period of greatest splendor and will gather within its walls great personalities of his time as the impressionist painter Joaquín Sorolla, the Marquis of Viana or even King Alfonso XIII, who stayed at the Palace on several occasions.

In its construction a neo-Arabic style is used, with great ornamentation in tiles and plasterwork, including pieces of great value as Nasrid capitals of the fourteenth century or carved doors of the sixteenth century. In addition, the castle has a large amount of furniture of great artistic value. The Castle has a rich history full of unique moments and truly singular elements.
