Freila – Negratín Swamp
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Freila is a small town in the high plateau of Granada, belonging to the region of Baza. It is located in a fertile meadow with an abundance of olive trees, fruit trees and mulberry trees in contrast to the dry and red soil that surrounds the whole area. With its semi-desert landscape, it is an area full of geographical contrasts that stands out for its cave houses, in which a large part of the population lives.
Next to the dam and the Negratín viewpoint is one of the most attractive places in the Granada’s high plateau: the Negratín reservoir, the third largest in Andalusia. Its sub-desert, almost lunar landscape is the real treasure of the reservoir, surrounded by badlands of changing colours and intense blue waters that create a landscape similar to that of the Colorado Canyon. On its edges there are numerous areas for bathing and practising water sports.
