Dílar – River

FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE

The River Dílar is located in the environmental protection zone of the Sierra Nevada National Park and Natural Park and is a fast-flowing, narrow, low-flowing river. It rises in the western part of the Sierra Nevada, at an altitude of 3,000 metres, in the area known as the Lagunillos de la Virgen.

It flows into the River Genil in the fertile plain of Granada and its course crosses the municipalities of Dílar, Otura, Gójar, Ogíjares, Alhendín, Las Gabias, Churriana de la Vega, Cúllar Vega, Granada and Purchil. It is a river with a continuous flow of water and in summer it is enhanced by the effect of the thawing of the great peaks of the Sierra Nevada.

The Río Dílar Recreational Area is located about 4 kilometres from the town of Dílar, next to the old hydroelectric power station. It is a space frequented by families in spring and summer, where the river becomes an inland beach with small pools for bathing. It has tables and a car park. Its location is magnificent, at the bottom of the ravine, surrounded by high rocky cliffs and with dense woodland on the banks.
