WALKING ROUTE

Since 1924, the year in which the first film was shot in Guadix, until the present day, the film industry has repeatedly come for the diverse landscapes, historical-artistic heritage, ethnology and culture of Guadix itself. Due to these reasons, more than 100 audiovisual productions, including feature films, television movies, episodes for television series, short films, documentaries, reports, advertisements and music videos, have shown the beautiful and diverse places of Guadix to the rest of the world.

It was the cinema genre known as Spaguetti Western that made film directors aware of the region. They, attracted by the great resemblance of our desert landscape with those of the Wild West, filmed great films such as: C’era una volta il West, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly and Per qualche dollaro in più. The place’s brightness, its monumental heritage, its popular culture, the gypsy population and the Guadix caves themselves were the crucial elements for those directors to choose the region for their western films.

In the eighties, many episodes for tv series were recorded, while the cinematographic projects that were recorded there focused on the genres of adventure, drama and science fiction. Examples for these movies are Clash of the Titans or Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.
