Granada – Cultural Center

CajaGranada Cultural Center, headquarters of the CajaGranada Foundation, brings together a series of facilities that give shape to a varied cultural and educational offer.

Museo Memoria de Andalucía focuses on showing the past and present of Andalusia with current multimedia resources. Other fundamental parts of the CajaGranada Cultural Center are the CajaGranada Theatre, a cultural reference in Granada, the spaces dedicated to temporary exhibitions and others focused on open-air artistic events, among which the Temporary Exhibition Hall, the Plaza de las Culturas, the workshop rooms and the Patio Elíptico stand out.

One of the most outstanding elements of the CajaGranada Cultural Center is its avant-garde architecture. Designed by Alberto Campo Baeza, the building is configured as a large horizontal box of exposed concrete, with a surface area of 12,984 square metres and a floor plan of 114 x 54 metres.

Crowned by its impressive Screen Building, 42 metres high by 54 metres at the base, where the Puerta de la Cultura is located as the main access route, the CajaGranada Cultural Center is articulated around an impressive Elliptical Courtyard, -through which two walkways intertwine-, with a diameter of 30 metres; measures similar to those of the courtyard of the Palace of Charles V, of the monumental complex of the Alhambra, to which it pays aesthetic homage.
