Albuñuelas – Boilers
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Albuñuelas is located to the west of the Lecrín Valley, it is immersed in the mountain range that receives the same name as the town, with an approximate extension of 14,000 hectares. It is considered the “Lung of the Valley”. It is a privileged place for its enclaves, where the visitor will be able to contemplate admirable views, as well as, to walk through a forest of pines and centennial olive trees, constantly lulled by the rumor that produce an endless number of springs and streams, that, next to the Santo river, form a true aquifer paradise.
Nature and water give life to the different species of animals (thrushes, partridges, blackbirds, rabbits, wild boars, deer, mountain goats, wood pigeons,) and plants (wild, aromatic and medicinal species) that populate this place.
In the Boilers and the Sequero a tar was obtained from the resin of the pine, and also the miera, antiseptic substance for the cattle, distilled of the juniper. There are two enormous cauldrons over two combustion chambers, which were probably fed with the gorse that populate the area, which has a high calorific value. From the ovens, two channels carried the product to the cauldron. Above the ovens there is a hut and, to the right, a stream opens its way.
