Polopos – Watchtower

The watchtower or Atalaya de Cautor was raised during the 16th century, possibly over the remains of a nasrid bastion, part of the defensive reinforcement plan executed by the Catholic Monarchs. It is 80m high and stands right on the rocky promontory that divides the towns of Castillo de Baños and La Mamola. It is owned by the municipality of Polopos.
