Galera

Calle Real Bajo, 18

Cave-houses have been the traditional dwellings of the Altiplano of Granada for centuries. They are dug into the rock itself and are usually high quality dwellings, both thermally and acoustically. The oval-shaped ones stand out and have given rise to the emergence of a new concept, “troglodyte tourism”.

In Galera there is a unique neighbourhood made up of cave-houses, around the so-called Mirador del Cerro de la Virgen, which has unbeatable panoramic views over the town.

Galera is a municipality located in the southern part of the region of Huéscar in the province of Granada. It comprises the villages of Galera, La Alquería, Cortijos del cura and Buenavista and has a population of 1,100 inhabitants.
