Chauchina – Tobacco Barn

Chauchina is located in the western part of the region of the Vega of Granada. It borders the municipalities of Cijuela, Fuente Vaqueros, Santa Fe and Chimeneas. Its name comes from the Latin Sancius, and this in turn from the word salix, which means “willow”. In Arabic times it was transcribed as Yayyaâna. Its municipal district includes a large part of the airport of Granada and also the Genil River flows through it.

Beautiful path surrounded by farmland. In the area around we can find tobacco barns, a plant that was introduced in this area after the crisis of the thirties, as well as poplar groves.
