Cenes de la Vega – River
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Cenes de la Vega is located in the central area of the province, just 5 kilometers from the capital of Granada and lying on the slopes of a hill on the banks of the Genil River. This municipality is part of the Münzer Route, one of the routes of Al-Andalus promoted by the Andalusi Legacy. Also known as Camino Real, it linked Almeria with Granada through inland areas.
The section of the Genil River that passes through Cenes de la Vega presents a much wilder and natural aspect, in contrast to its transit through the city of Granada. It is a very wooded area.
Along this segment we can find several interesting places, the Cadi irrigation canal is one of them. Built in Almohad times for the supply and irrigation of the area of Campo del Príncipe in Granada, it was canalized by concrete walls and covered in most of its route, leaving the village separated almost 1 kilometer from the Genil River.
