Castell de Ferro – Beach
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
The Rincón de la Menacha beach is a bathing area located at the end of the Sotillo beach in the village of Castell de Ferro, belonging to the municipality of Gualchos. The beach is of coarse sand and pebbles with a cliff and a viewpoint with wonderful views over the town.
There are seasonal facilities such as a beach bar, showers and a watchtower. There is also a small oasis of palm trees, an old dry dock (now in disuse) called Marina Rincón and a camping site for motorhomes that has a direct exit to this area and a pedestrian path that connects with the entrance to the centre of Castell de Ferro. It is a quiet area with some greenhouses and detached houses.
This beach, specifically the area of Marina Rincón, was used by the Spanish filmmaker Víctor Erice as a location for his latest film ‘”Close Your Eyes” (2023), together with other locations in the province of Granada in the municipalities of Dúrcal, Rubite and Nigüelas.
The Rincón de la Menacha beach belongs to the Public Maritime Terrestrial Domain, and is therefore governed by the Coastal Law and the regional decrees relating to this area. Access to the beach is restricted to traffic.
