Bubión – House
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
In the Alpujarra Granadina, at the foothills of Sierra Nevada, we can find the small village of Bubión, located between Pampaneira and Capileira, in the “Barranco del Poqueira”.
Situated in the middle of the hillside, at an altitude of 1,300 metres above sea level, we can appreciate the Berber architecture typical of the area, with steep streets and houses adapted to the mountainous terrain, with the presence of terraces and flat roofs of launas, has been perfectly preserved thanks to the meticulous care of its 400 inhabitants.
Its stone buildings are characterised by the stamp of the Alpujarran houses with their popular tinaos. Likewise, several streets and houses were built by the Arabs. That’s the reason why there are many fountains which can be found almost everywhere, as well as the chimneys so characteristic of the Alpujarra area.
Located in the Church Square, we can find this typical Alpujarran house with two floors, built around the time of the Reconquest. The house contains hundreds of elements from traditional life in the region, such as old furniture from the last century, farm implements and all kinds of objects and tools. It is currently used as an ethnographic museum.
