Güéjar Sierra – Tramway Path
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Greenway runs along the route of the old Tramway of the Sierra, which connected the city of Granada with the heart of Sierra Nevada, promoted by the Duke of San Pedro de Galatino and was operational between 1925 and 1974.
The route of the mythical Tramway of the Sierra, with a total of 24 kilometers, first followed the course of the Genil River to Pinos Puente and then, from Güéjar Sierra, it ran parallel to the Maitena River to the Barranco of San Juan.
Due to economic difficulties and political vicissitudes, it was not until 1944 that this beautiful route, which has a series of tunnels and stretches of track with impossible curves that overlook impressive cliffs and cross beautiful gorges that evoke the Granada of another time, was put into operation.
