Cádiar – Neighborhood
FILM IN GRANADA HELPS YOU MANAGE YOUR FILMING PROJECTS IN OUR PROVINCE
Cádiar is located at 100 km from the city of Granada. Nestled between the magnificent Sierra Nevada and Sierra de la Contraviesa, on the banks of the river Guadalfeo, it has a strategic position as being the central point of the Alpujarra region. Among its streets, the typical constructive typologies of La Alpujarra stand out. Its gastronomy is not lagging behind, famous throughout the region for the production of high quality organic wines. The municipality includes the villages of Cádiar, Narila, Yátor and the urban settlement of Rambla del Banco.
Barrio Bajo is the name currently given to the old town, which dates back to the Muslim period. Here we can find places such as the old Muslim potteries, the Hermitage of San Blas or the Calvario Square, located in the lower part of the neighbourhood. Its streets, with an irregular and narrow layout, are connected by sloping alleyways with tinaos and peculiar fountains.
